CFDLAB is a FORTRAN software library containing a variety of animation and visualization applications in fluid dynamics. The computational engines of CFDLAB are based on the inclusive software library FDLIB.

The directory structure of CFDLAB parallels that of FDLIB; please see the FDLIB site for a detailed description. In addition, CFDLAB includes directory 00_graphics that contains applications for plotting and animation in two and three dimensions.

The CFDLAB graphics are based on the X11 graphics library vogle. The binaries of vogle take only 0.2 MB, as opposed to those of OpenGL that take forever. Vogle can be called from C, C++ and FORTRAN.

The compiled vogle binary is included in the CFDLAB distribution for SGI (64-bit), SUN-Solaris, Compaq, Linux, and Windows emulating Unix via cygwin. Installation is straightforward and takes only a split second.

The source code of CFDLAB is available as a free distribution subject to the terms of the lesser GNU general public license. A FORTRAN 77 or compatible compiler is required to generate the object files and link them with the X11 and vogle libraries to generate the executables. Instructions for installation and compilation are provided in the Read_me file of the distribution.

To unravel the compresed tar file, issue the Unix command: tar xf CFDLAB.13.10.tgz
